THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Tuesday it is preparing deportation proceedings against an Indian national being sought by authorities for his alleged involvement in kidnap-for-ransom cases and other criminal activities

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente identified the fugitive as 48-year-old Suresh Bassapa Pujari who was recently arrested along Doña Soledad Avenue, Paranaque City by operatives from the bureau’s Fugitive Search Unit.

Pujari arrived in the country in 2016 and has been in hiding since then with an expired passport.

Pujari, who is the subject of an Interpol red notice, is facing two arrest warrants that were issued against him by the courts in India for a string of criminal cases that include organized crime syndicate, attempt to commit murder with criminal conspiracy to use an illegal firearm.

One of the warrants was issued by the city sessions court in Greater Bombay, India on July 2, 2016 while the other one was issued by the Maharashta Control of Organized Crime Special Court in Greater Mumbai, India on August 2, 2016.

Pujari is a known notorious gangster in the cities of Bombay and Mumbai, India, who has been involved in several kidnap-for-ransom activities.

It was learned that the cases against Pujari in Bombay and Mumbai were filed following the arrest of his cohorts by the police before they could execute their boss’ order to eliminate some of their victims for not paying ransom.

Pujari is currently detained at the BI warden facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City awaiting his deportation.
