PARTIDO Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) announced on Saturday that it had adopted Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio as its Vice Presidential candidate and endorsed her as the running mate of party standard-bearer Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr. in the upcoming 2022 elections.

The Executive Committee of the PFP released a Resolution on Saturday following Duterte-Carpio’s filing with the Comelec, hours earlier, of her Certificate of Candidacy (CoC) for Vice President under Lakas-CMD, where she took her oath last Thursday.

Her induction into Lakas came on the sidelines of the wedding in Cavite of a daughter of Lakas-CMD president  Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., where she and Marcos Jr. stood as sponsors.

“RESOLVED that vice presidential candidate MAYOR SARA DUTERTE CARPIO of the LAKAS-CMD is hereby ADOPTED by the PARTIDO FEDERAL NG PILIPINAS as its candidate for vice president, and hereby INDORSES her candidacy as the running mate of the PFP’s official candidate for president of the Philippines SENATOR FERDINAND R. MARCOS, JR. in the May 9, 2022, national elections,” A portion of the resolution read.

The PFP resolution further stated that the party did not issue Certificates of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) and had no official candidates for Vice President and Senators for the upcoming polls.

It added that party Chair and standard-bearer Marcos, Jr. was given “full power and authority” to choose his Vice Presidential running mate and senatorial line-up.

Marcos Jr. says he is advocating a unifying leadership brand, amid moves to derail his candidacy for the 2022 polls, including the filing of a disqualification petition with Comelec.

The former senator’s camp noted that Marcos has also fared well in recent Presidential preference surveys, where he enjoyed an ‘overwhelming’ lead over other candidates.  Recent surveys also showed that a Bongbong-Sara tandem would result in a landslide victory, it added.
